HANAPĒPĒ – The replacement of valves and auxiliary work at the Hanapēpē sewer pump station located adjacent to the Hanapēpē fire station is scheduled for next week. The weeklong project will begin on Monday, June 17 with work hours set for 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. barring any unforeseen circumstances.

eWaste now accepted for recycling 2nd Friday, Saturday of the month

LĪHU'E – In response to the growing need for a permanent collection site for unwanted electronics commonly known as eWaste, county officials have set up an eWaste program at the Kaua'i Resource Center (KRC) on designated days each month. Residents and businesses can now drop-off obsolete or unwanted electronic products at KRC on the second Friday and Saturday of the month between 7:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

Price of Kaua'i Bus passes to increase July 1

LĪHU'E -- Frequent Kaua'i Bus riders are encouraged to purchase bus passes before the new rates take effect on July 1. With the rate increase, the monthly pass will go from $25 to $30 and the annual pass will rise to $300 from $240. The six-month bus pass, which currently sells for $120, will no longer be available come July 1.

Public input sought on phase two of CZO update

LĪHU'E – One of the most utilized chapters of the Kaua'i County Code is getting an overhaul. Adopted in 1972, the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (CZO), which regulates land use and development on Kaua'i, is in the process of being updated by the Planning Department with the assistance of the consulting firm Helber, Hastert and Fee.

Green waste is now being accepted at all refuse transfer stations. The service was suspended yesterday at the Hanalei, Kapa‘a and Hanapēpē transfer stations due to the weather.

Single lane closure of Haleko Road set for next week

LĪHU‘E – The Roads Division will be doing shoulder work on Haleko Road next week to improve drainage in the area. The project is scheduled to start on Monday, April 29, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is expected to be completed in three days weather permitting.
