The County of Kaua‘i Police Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the County Council.

The Police Commission:

Appoints and may remove the Chief of Police

Reviews the annual budget prepared by the Chief of Police and may make recommendations thereon to the Mayor

Receives, considers, and investigates charges brought by the public against the conduct of the department or any of its members and submit a written report of its findings to the Chief of Police within ninety (90) days

Refers all matters relating to administration of the department to the Chief of Police
