  How can I get financial assistance for medical bills and electric bills?
      Our agency does not provide any financial assistance.
  How can I get housing?
      To apply for elderly housing, call Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii at 821-4415. To apply for rental assistance, call Housing Agency at 241-4440.
  How can I get a handicapped parking placard?
      All handicapped parking placard must be obtained directly from the County Driver Licensing Department at 241-4242.
  How can I get a “Will“ and “Advance Directives” done?
      A referral will be made to our legal assistance service provider who will determine appropriateness on a case-by-case basis.
  How can I get someone to come clean my house for FREE?
      To qualify for homemaker services, an individual must be 60+ years old with one or more impairments and an unmet need. Screening criteria will be provided to determine eligibility. You will be asked to make a voluntary donation.
  How can I qualify for a home delivered meal?
      

To qualify for a home delivered meal, an individual must be 60+ years old who is homebound and frail with two or more impairments and an unmet need, and meet at least one of the following:

  1. Lack the physical mobility and/or mental capacity to shop for food, prepare meals themselves and have no one to assist. 
  2. Lack adequate cooking facilities.
  3. OR is convalescing following discharge from hospital and does not have help to prepare meals.

Screening criteria will be provided to determine eligibility.  You will be asked to make a voluntary donation.

  How can I get a photo I.D. card?
      

Senior identification cards are for seniors 60+ and they are issued once a month on the first Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Please see the Senior ID Schedule for 2009 posted on our home page for our photo ID sessions held throughout the island.  A senior registration form must be completed. A donation for the cost of the materials used is accepted. 

 

Funds for the Agency on Elderly Affairs' Senior Services are provided by the County of Kauai, Federal Administration on Aging, and State of Hawaii, through the State Executive Office on Aging.
