FREE "CERT" basic 24 hour trainings are being offered throughout the Island of Kauai during 2013. It is our goal to have Community Emergency Response Teams trained in every neighborhood. "CERT", Community Emergency Response Team, basic 24 hour training courses are being offered around the island in 2013. Classes will be scheduled around the island, and a calendar of classes will be available soon. All Kauai residents are encouraged to take this valuable emergency preparedness training which is being offered free of charge by the County Fire Department and Civil Defense Agency. To educate citizens to be better prepared to take care of themselves, family, friends, and neighbors in the event of a disaster of any type until trained emergency responders can arrive. To establish Community Emergency Response Teams, emergency management resources, volunteer pools to help during an emergency, and to perform projects that improve a community’s preparedness.
