Description
The Water Safety Operation Bureau promotes prevention and safety awareness to all persons who frequent our beaches and provides in-services training for staff and public entities. The Water Safety Operation's primary concerns is to educate tourists and local residents of dangers that could occur while visiting beach locations.
Objectives
- To decrease drowning and water related injuries through an aggressive and innovative Water Safety.
- To promote Kauai's guarded beaches as safe visitor destination and safe recreational areas for residents.
- To work in collaboration with hotels, non-profit entities and schools to promote "prevention" awareness in water safety through the Junior Lifeguard and Ocean Safety Awareness programs.
- To provide first aid and rescue services for the general public.
