Kuhio Highway traffic delays in Kilauea area, Oct. 15-16

KILAUEA – The Department of Water (DOW) advises motorists of single lane closures on Kuhio Highway, Route 56, between Hookui Road and Kolo Road/Kalamania Road starting Thursday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Residential household hazardous waste collection set for Oct. 17&18

County officials announced that its free biannual household hazardous waste (HHW) collection for residents only is scheduled next week. To accommodate the HHW collection, the green waste service at the Hanalei refuse transfer station will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Police capture wanted fugitive Ray “Kuna” Harada

LĪHU'E  – Police captured one of Kauai’s most-wanted fugitives in Kilauea Wednesday night, following a weeklong search.

CDBG preparation workshops scheduled Oct. 12 and Oct. 14

LĪHU‘E – In preparation for the next application cycle for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency will be conducting workshops for those that are new to the program and are interested in learning more about it. The “New to CDBG” workshops will be held on Monday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building conference room.

Portion of Waipouli Road closed to thru traffic Oct. 13-16

KAPA‘A – The public is advised that a portion of Waipouli Road, approximately ¼-mile from the Hauiki Road junction in Kapa‘a, will be closed to thru traffic next week to allow for the replacement of a drain culvert under the roadway.

Convention Hall to close Oct. 19-22 for major electrical work

LĪHU'E – The Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall (KWMCH) will be closed from Oct. 19 to Oct. 22 for major electrical work.
