Traffic advisory for Lights on Rice

LĪHU'E – The annual Lights on Rice Parade is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4 starting at 6 p.m.

Phase 4 of Haleko Road closure begins Dec. 3

LIHUE – Motorists and residents are advised that Phase 4 of construction on Haleko Road will begin on Thursday, Dec. 3, weather permitting. All lanes on Haleko Road near the Pua Loke Street intersection will be closed to through traffic, and all lanes between Pua Loke Street and Kukui Grove Street will be reopened.

OPA awarded Sexual Assault Prosecution grant monies

LIHUE –The State of Hawai‘i Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division recently awarded $163,000 in grant funds to the County of Kaua‘i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to establish and fund a Sex Assault Prosecution Unit.

Meeting to discuss R-1 Recycled Water Program for Waimea Town

WAIMEA – The Department of Public Works, Wastewater Management Division is holding a public information meeting to discuss the R-1 Recycled Water Program for Waimea Town. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Waimea Canyon School cafeteria.

Hearing to discuss concessionaires at Hanalei beaches set for December 1

LĪHU'E – The Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting an upcoming public hearing to announce the proposed amendment to the Rules and Regulations Relating to the Use of Parks and Park Facilities by Peddlers and Concessionaires at Hanalei Bay and Black Pot Beach Park, which will affect surf and stand up paddling schools and boating companies in the area.

Tax rate adjustment available to owners of long-term affordable rentals
LĪHU‘E – Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. today signed Bill 2600, which allows qualified  owners of long-term affordable rentals to receive the homestead tax rate for the current assessment year if they apply for the beneficial rate by Dec. 31, 2015.

County announces holiday closures

LĪHU‘E – In observance of Thanksgiving Day, County of Kaua‘i offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 along with all refuse transfer stations, the Kekaha Landfill, Puhi Metals Recycling Center and the Kaua‘i Resource Center. In addition, the Kapa‘a and Waimea swimming pools, all neighborhood centers and the county’s Sunshine markets will be closed on the holiday.
