Loose mixed waste not accepted at Hanalei transfer station

HANALEI – The Hanalei refuse transfer station will not be accepting loose mixed waste until further notice due to a mechanical failure with the mixed waste hopper.

DOW to hold public hearing on Facilities Reserve Charge, Nov. 10

LIHUE – The Department of Water (DOW) will hold a public hearing, Nov. 10, regarding the proposed amendments to the Facilities Reserve Charge (FRC) Rules and Regulations of the Board of Water Supply. The hearing will be held at 5 p.m. at the Kauai County Council Chambers, Suite 201, at the Historic County Building.

Kuhio Highway traffic delays in Kilauea area, Oct. 15-16

KILAUEA – The Department of Water (DOW) advises motorists of single lane closures on Kuhio Highway, Route 56, between Hookui Road and Kolo Road/Kalamania Road starting Thursday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kaua'i Job Fair set for Oct. 14 at KWMCH

LĪHU'E – Kaua‘i residents have the opportunity next week to meet with over 60 employers that are looking to hire at the Kaua‘i Job Fair. The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall.

Paving work at Kapa‘a transfer station set for Oct. 19–27

KAPA‘A - The upper area of the Kapa‘a refuse transfer station is scheduled for paving work from Oct. 19 to Oct. 27. While the work is underway, all recycling collections that normally take place in the upper area will be temporarily closed.

Residential household hazardous waste collection set for Oct. 17&18

County officials announced that its free biannual household hazardous waste (HHW) collection for residents only is scheduled next week. To accommodate the HHW collection, the green waste service at the Hanalei refuse transfer station will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Police capture wanted fugitive Ray “Kuna” Harada

CDBG preparation workshops scheduled Oct. 12 and Oct. 14

LĪHU‘E – In preparation for the next application cycle for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency will be conducting workshops for those that are new to the program and are interested in learning more about it. The “New to CDBG” workshops will be held on Monday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building conference room.

Portion of Waipouli Road closed to thru traffic Oct. 13-16

KAPA‘A – The public is advised that a portion of Waipouli Road, approximately ¼-mile from the Hauiki Road junction in Kapa‘a, will be closed to thru traffic next week to allow for the replacement of a drain culvert under the roadway.
