The decrease, five cents per 1,000 gallons, is the result of energy costs incurred during the past fiscal year that were lower than the energy cost allowance in the water rates. Kaua'i Bus passes to increase July 1

LĪHU'E – County officials announced that prices for Kaua'i Bus passes will increase on July 1, while the per-trip fares will remain unchanged. The cost of a monthly bus pass will rise from $20 to $25, a six-month pass will increase from $90 to $120, and an annual pass will climb from $180 to $240. Large commercial loads not accepted at the Kekaha Landfill temporarily

KEKAHA – Effective immediately, large commercial truck loads that would normally go directly to the Kekaha Landfill’s working face will not be accepted until further notice due to extremely high winds of more than 40 miles per hour at the landfill. County announces holiday closures

LĪHU‘E – In observance of King Kamehameha Day, County of Kaua‘i offices will be closed on Friday, along with all refuse transfer stations, Kekaha Landfill, and the Kaua‘i Resource Center. In addition, the Kapa‘a and Waimea swimming pools will also be closed for the holiday. Puhi Metals Recycling Center will remain open during the holiday, as well as most HI-5 bottle redemption centers that are normally open on Fridays with the exception of Kaua'i Resource Center, Kapa‘a, and Kīlauea. read more ...
