County hosts Drug Take Back Day

LĪHU'E – The Kaua'i Police Department and Life’s Choices Kaua'i are teaming up to collect unused or expired prescription medication and other drugs on Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at KPD headquarters, located at 3990 Kaana Street in Līhu‘e.

HANALEI – The public is advised that loose mixed waste will not be accepted at the Hanalei refuse transfer station on Thursday, Sept. 29 to accommodate the repair of the compactor.

Prison sentence in DUI homicide case

LĪHU'E – James Monroe, 54, of Kīlauea, was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for charges arising out of a 2014 drunk driving crash that left a young man dead and his father seriously injured.
