East-bound lane on Kaumualii Highway closed for water main repairs, Aug. 24

KALAHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) advises motorists to expect traffic delays on Kaumualii Highway in Kalaheo, today, Aug. 24, while the DOW performs emergency repairs to a main line break located on the highway shoulder.

Kaumuali‘i Highway closed following single-vehicle crash in Kipu
KIPU – A single-vehicle crash that occurred on Kaumuali‘i Highway Thursday night in Kīpū caused the highway to be closed for several hours.

Update on Puhi Road Rehabilitation Project
PUHI – The public is advised that phase one of the Puhi Road Rehabilitation Project has reached the halfway point, and traffic control changes are planned for the coming weeks, weather permitting. Phase one spans from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Kaneka Street.

Guilty verdict in crystal methamphetamine case

LIHUE – A fifth circuit jury on Thursday found Jennifer Carvalho, 33, of Līhu‘e, guilty of three felony charges related to possession of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

County hosts public meeting on Waikomo Road restriping project

KOLOA – The County of Kaua‘i invites the public to a workshop to discuss Safe Routes to School options for Kōloa School, including the potential to convert a portion of Waikomo Road to one-way traffic. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kōloa Elementary School cafeteria.
