Volunteers can do a wide variety of volunteer work. Volunteer interests and needs are matched with different volunteer opportunities. Types of volunteer work include:
Volunteers cannot take the place of regular paid workers. They often fill “the gap” where agency workers are not able to do or do not have the time to do particular tasks. Types of volunteer work NOT available through Kauai RSVP include church-related or political-related activities.
Volunteer stations must be either public or private non-profit organizations. Volunteer stations include State Building and Civic Center information desks, Kauai Adult Day Health Center, Senior Centers, Kauai Public Libraries, Makauwahi Cave, Malama I Na Honu, National Tropical Botanical Garden and more see attached Volunteer Station listing. New stations are added as volunteers’ interest grow.

Orientation by staff prior to placement, in-service instruction and supervision from the station supervisor, accident and personal liability insurance (no cost to volunteer), supplemental auto liability insurance (if the volunteer uses his/her car) and mileage reimbursement. An annual recognition ceremony is held for all enrolled volunteers who have provided a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer work during the year. As most volunteers will say, the best thing they “get” from being a volunteer is the satisfaction and pride of helping others.
