The County of Kauaʻi is announcing the following changes in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Motor Vehicle Registration Division.
Additional health screening measures for customers of the Kapule Building effective Nov. 16
LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i is announcing additional health screening measures for customers of the Kapule Building effective Monday, Nov. 16.
Customers and any accompanying individuals must be able to pass a health screening before entering the building for services.
- Hand sanitize
- No Touch temporal/wrist temperature scan.
- Answer these 3 questions.
- Have you take any medications to reduce a fever in the last 6 hours?
- Are you or is anyone in your household currently exhibiting any flu like symptoms?
- Have you traveled in the last 10 days?
- Check in at the kiosk with the door monitor.
If the applicant does not comply or pass the health screening, the appointment will be rescheduled on a date at least 10 days after their initial appointment.
Additionally, kupuna and other walk-in customers must comply and pass health screening to enter building.
The health and safety of the community and our associates has been and remains our primary focus. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced, and masks will be required for entry and service.

We are open Monday to Friday, hours will be from 8 am to 4 pm.
Kupuna hours are from 8 am to 9 am. Monday through Friday. No appointments are necessary for those ages 65 and older. However, Kupuna are advised to be in the building by 8:45 a.m.
All other services will resume by appointment only from 9 am to 4 pm.
The health and safety of the community and our associates has been and remains our primary focus. SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES WILL BE ENFORCED & MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY AND SERVICE.
We will continue to accept registration renewals and sewer payments through our drop box window located to the right of the glass doors at the Kapule building and mail will still be processed timely. The Safeway kiosks remain open as well as the online payment methods for sewer and vehicle registration renewals. Fees for these services are currently being waived by the County.
