PUHI – Firefighters extinguished a warehouse fire in Puhi Industrial Park early Saturday morning.

No injuries were reported.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Haleukana Street in Puhi. Firefighters from the Līhu‘e fire station were first on scene. Firefighters from the Kōloa, Kalāheo and Kapa‘a fire stations, along with the on-duty battalion chief and Fire Prevention Bureau also responded to the incident.

When responders arrived on scene they found a two-story warehouse on fire. Crews immediately knocked down the fire on the first floor of the building and proceeded to address the second floor which had partially collapsed. After extinguishing the fire on the second floor, firefighters ensured there was no fire extension in other areas of the structure. The scene was cleared shortly after 6 a.m.

Kaua‘i Fire Prevention Bureau inspectors estimate damage to the structure and its contents to be roughly $500,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
