Public Works News Release

WAILUA—The Department of Public Works announces that a portion of Olohena Road, between Kamalu Road and Waipouli Road, will be temporarily closed in both directions on April 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to remove a large albizia tree on Olohena Road, near an area where a small landslide closed a portion of the road after heavy rain from the recent April 2024 flooding event.

Only residents who live in the area will be allowed through the work zone, but they are advised to proceed with caution.

Motorists shall arrange to accommodate the necessary road closure, use alternate routes, and allow extra time to get to destinations.  Flaggers will be positioned at the ends of the work zone to direct traffic.

For more information about the road closure, call the Roads Division at 808-241-4847.
