LĪHU‘E – A 62-year-old man from Keālia remains in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 6, 2025, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway and Kāpule Highway. A 2004 Chevrolet truck was traveling eastbound on Kūhiō Highway when the driver lost control, striking a traffic barrier, a traffic signal pole, a metal gate, and a wooden fence. Authorities believe the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to losing control of the vehicle.
Medics initially transported the driver to Wilcox Medical Center, where he was later flown to Straub Medical Center for further treatment.
Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
