Injured hiker rescued on Kalalau Trail Thursday

KALALAU — Personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department rescued an injured 35-year-old Ohio visitor from the Kalalau Trail on Thursday, March 27.

First responders received a report of a distressed hiker shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Personnel with the Līhu‘e Fire Station aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.

First responders arrived on the scene and discovered the hiker with an apparent shoulder injury near the Hanakāpī‘ai Beach landing zone. The hiker was loaded into Air 1 and transferred to Princeville Airport to awaiting personnel from the Hanalei Fire Station and American Medical Response for medical care.

The scene was cleared shortly after 6:40 p.m.
