REMINDER: Overnight water shutdown scheduled in Kōloa on Feb. 24

KŌLOA – The Department of Water (DOW) reminds residents that there will be an overnight water service shutdown on a portion of Poʻipū Road, from Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5 a.m., weather permitting. The affected area is Poʻipū Road, from the intersection of Waikomo Road to the address of 3123 Poʻipū Road; Paanau Road and Hikina Road.

The water service shutdown is necessary to allow contractor Goodfellow Bros. LLC to perform work on the Poʻipū Road Safety and Mobility Project for the County of Kauaʻi.    

Customers located in the affected area are advised to prepare for the water service shutdown by taking the following steps:

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants, and neighbors about the water service shutdown.
  • Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that their water heaters do not empty during the shutdown. 
  • Businesses are advised to prepare accordingly for the water service disruption
