Crime Stoppers Kauaʻi Raises Maximum Reward to $2,000
Published on August 06, 2026
LĪHUʻE – Crime Stoppers Kauaʻi, in partnership with the Kaua‘i Police Department, has raised its maximum reward for anonymous tips from $1,000 to $2,000, as tips from the public continue to help law enforcement solve crimes on Kauaʻi. This is the first increase since the nonprofit was founded in 2017.
The higher reward applies to qualifying tips that lead to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property, or the curbing of illegal narcotics trafficking.
The value of a single call was on display in March 2026, when a member of the public spotted an individual who was wanted on a warrant. The tipster took the initiative to call the Crime Stoppers Kaua’i tip line with the person’s exact whereabouts. CSK passed on the information to the Kaua’i Police Department, and an arrest was made.
CSK understands that many people fear reprisal and are reluctant to get involved when they have incriminating information. That is why the organization prides itself on assuring tipsters that they will remain anonymous. By giving community members a way to report crime-solving information without giving their names, CSK hopes more people will come forward with what they know.
“If you know something, please tell us,” said Crime Stoppers Kauaʻi Board President Ron Wiley. “You will never be asked to identify yourself, you will never have to testify, and no one will know the tip came from you. That is the whole point of Crime Stoppers. And the reward is real money; up to $2,000 if your information leads to an arrest. Please do not assume someone else already called. Make the call.”
What is seen online can be reported to CSK, especially when posts are suspicious, and screenshots and video recordings can serve as evidence of illegal activity. An online tip submitted to CSK earlier this year included a video clip that helped investigators identify those involved and quickly led to an arrest.
Tips are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so information can reach law enforcement in minutes.
“Our officers cannot be everywhere, but our community is,” said Kauaʻi Police Department Chief Rudy Tai. “I saw what this program can do during my career with the San Diego Police Department, where Crime Stoppers tips helped move cases that would otherwise have gone cold. That June arrest happened because one person picked up the phone. You may only have one small piece of the puzzle, but that piece may be exactly what our investigators need.”
Even the smallest tip could make a difference.
