LĪHUE – The Department of Water (DOW) invites everyone to join the 2026 Ho‘olaule‘a No Ka Honua, a festival celebrating Earth Month across the island. This event is co-hosted by the County of Kaua‘i Office of Economic Development and the Kauaʻi Economic Development Board. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
Event Details:
To celebrate Earth Month and encourage outdoor water conservation, DOW is holding a grand prize drawing for a 50-gallon rain barrel worth $130. You can enter at the DOW event table, and the winner will be announced at the end of the day on April 11.
What is a rain barrel? A rain barrel is a container that captures and stores rainwater from the roof. The collected rainwater is a valuable source for nonpotable purposes such as gardening. DOW encourages water conservation outdoors by using collected rainwater for landscaping needs. This also has the potential to save money on water bills.
At the event, DOW will also be giving out free garden hose nozzles and K-12 educational resources, while supplies last.
