8:15 p.m., April 11: NWS issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kaua‘i

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kaua‘i County through 4 a.m., Friday, April 12. The watch may be extended, dropped, or modified as conditions develop.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for Severe Thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. This includes the area of Līhu‘e.
Severe Thunderstorms have the potential to produce gusts that may reach over 58 miles per hour, or destructive hail the size of quarters or larger.
The National Weather Service also issued a Flood Advisory for Kaua‘i County which is in effect through 10 p.m., Thursday, April 11, and a Flood Watch remains in effect for Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i until 6 p.m., Friday, April 12.
