Aug. 2, 11 P.M. UPDATE, County of Kaua‘i, Anahola brush fire

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters have controlled an estimated 2-acre brush fire in Anahola near Kalalea View Drive.

No injuries or damaged structures have been reported at this time. 

The fire was reported at 8:30 p.m.

Response

According to a preliminary report, crews defended nearby homes from a fire in a valley by the shoreline with a thick tree line. Although crews have controlled the fire, substantial winds in the area persist. First responders are monitoring hot spots. 

Assets

Crews with the Kapaa and Kaiakea fire stations, Rescue 3, Tender 3, ARFF, and the on-duty Battalion Chief are responded to this incident. Crews with the Department of Public Works are on standby.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency continues to monitor the incident. 

Road closures

At this time, there are no road closures. However, first responders are advising the public to avoid the area.
