Aug. 20, 4:30 p.m., County of Kaua‘i, Wainiha brush fire

The Kaua‘i Fire Department is responding to a brush fire in Wainiha in the vicinity of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road.

According to preliminary reports, there are no reports of damage to nearby structures and no reports of injuries. 

The fire was reported on Thursday, August 20, shortly before 1:25 p.m.

Response

Crews are currently on scene and continue to fight the fire. Fire fighters have established a good barrier between the fire and nearby structures, and there are currently no threats to those structures.

Assets

Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Kaiākea fire station, Kapaʻa fire station, Līhuʻe fire station, Tender 3, Engine 2, Air 1,  Air 2, Air 3, and the Kaua‘i Police Department are responding to this incident.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency are monitoring. 

Road Closures

Kūhiō Highway in the vicinity of Ananalu Road is closed. 

The Kaua‘i Police Department is providing traffic control in the area.
