Aug. 22, 3:30 p.m., County of Kaua‘i, Wainiha brush fire

The Kaua‘i Fire Department is responding to reports of smoke in the vicinity of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road in Wainiha. 

According to preliminary reports, there are no reports of damage to nearby structures and no reports of injuries.

The fire was reported on Saturday, August 22, shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The previous brush fire was reported on Thursday, August 20, shortly before 1:25 p.m. According to preliminary reports, approximately 100 acres were burned.

Response

According to a preliminary report, firefighters arrived on scene and found multiple smoldering hot spots in the area. Personnel with the Hanalei fire station are working to fully extinguish the remaining hot spots and will remain on scene to mop up. There are no active flames at this time.

The smoldering hot spots are related to a brush fire that occurred in the same area on Thursday, August 20.

Personnel with the Hanalei fire station and Air 1 are responding to the incident.

Road Closures

No road closures have been reported at this time.
