LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) invites the public to attend an upcoming event to discuss the Hanalei Water Line Improvements Project.
Please join the DOW on Wednesday, November 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hanalei Elementary School Cafeteria, located at 5-5415 Kūhiō Highway, Hanalei. This community outreach will provide members of the public with the opportunity to review the project and share their feedback. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Hanalei Water Line Improvements Project involves the replacement of aging water main infrastructure to meet current water system standards, including fire flow requirements.
Areas impacted by the project include:
· Weke Road (from ʻAnae Road to Mālolo Road)
· ʻAnae Road
· Heʻe Road
· Mahimahi Road
The project is being completed in two phases:
· Phase I was completed in June 2025 and included the intersections of Kūhiō Highway with ʻAnae Road and Mahimahi Road.
· Phase II is scheduled to begin in winter 2025 and will address the roads listed above.
During the project’s work hours, please anticipate possible water service disruptions, intermittent road and lane closures, and typical construction site occurrences such as noise, vibration, and dust.
For the November 19 event, anyone requiring auxiliary aid or services for effective communication, or a modification to participate in the event, should contact the Department of Water at 808-245-5455. We strongly encourage advance requests of 48 hours or more before the event.
