Firefighters extinguish brush fire at Mānā Tuesday

MĀNĀ – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a 1/4-acre brush fire in Māna on Tuesday, March 5.

No injuries or damaged structures were reported.

Shortly before 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a brush fire near the end of Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mānā.

Firefighters with the Waimea fire station, Kekaka Landfill personnel, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel arrived on the scene and discovered 1/4-acre of brush on fire at the end of the raceway at Kaua‘i Raceway Park. With the assistance of Kekaka Landfill personnel and their two water tenders, crews controlled the fire at approximately 8:15 p.m. and later extinguished the blaze.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The scene was cleared shortly before 9:40 p.m.
