On Tuesday, Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a small brush fire near Kōloa Road.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
Firefighters with the Kalāheo and Kōloa fire stations and the Kaua‘i Police Department responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, shortly after 11:45 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire near mile-marker 2 on Kōloa Road.
When firefighters arrived shortly after 11:50 a.m., they discovered a 40-by-60-foot area of brush on fire. Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative personnel arrived on the scene and cut off power to nearby lines, while firefighters quickly contained the fire and extinguished it shortly after.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
The scene was cleared shortly after 12:40 p.m.
KPD diverted northbound traffic onto Ōma‘o Road for approximately 30 minutes while KFD personnel responded to the incident.
