LĪHU‘E – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a quarter-acre brush fire at an encampment on a hillside near Ahukini Landing on Saturday, Aug. 16.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters with the Līhu‘e Fire Station, Rescue 3, Tanker 1, personnel from Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the scene after receiving the report shortly after 6:10 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, the blaze consisted of trash and brush at the campsite.
The fire was brought under control by 6:20 p.m. and fully extinguished shortly after, using approximately 4,000 gallons of water.
The scene was cleared at 7:35 p.m.
The cause of the fire is deemed undetermined.
