Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Kapa‘a Monday; 2 displaced

KAPA‘A – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Kapa‘a on Monday, June 30.
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting two individuals who were displaced. As a result of the fire, two pets passed away.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Hoi Road in Kapa‘a on Monday shortly after 12:30 a.m.
Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, and Līhu‘e fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, upon arrival at approximately 12:35 a.m., firefighters discovered a residence on fire. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the first floor of the structure.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 3:35 a.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $353,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
