Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Kapa‘a Friday

KAPA‘A  – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Kapa‘a on Friday, July 25.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at Olympic Café on Kūhiō Highway in Kapa‘a on Friday shortly after 3:45 a.m.

Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, and Līhu‘e fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 3:50 a.m., firefighters discovered a building on fire. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the second floor of the structure.

KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 5:45 a.m.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $369,000.

The cause of the fire is accidental.
