Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Moloa‘a Monday

MOLOA‘A – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Moloa‘a Monday, October 13.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire behind the fruit stands in Moloa‘a on Monday shortly before 10:45 a.m.
Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Keālia, Princeville, and Līhu‘e fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 10:55 a.m., firefighters discovered a single residence in flames. First responders successfully extinguished the fire using a water tender due to the lack of fire hydrants in the surrounding area.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 12:50 p.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $105,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters arrive on scene and continue to extinguish the structure.
