Firefighters extinguish warehouse fire Thursday

KAPA‘A – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a warehouse fire in Kapa‘a on Apopo Road on Thursday, March 21.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Apopo Road at Kapa‘a shortly after 8:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Personnel from the Kaiākea, Kapa‘a, and Līhu‘e fire stations, Rescue 3, Tanker 1, the Fire Prevention Bureau, the Kaua‘i Police Department, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 8:55 p.m., firefighters discovered a 20-foot-by-50-foot metal building and its contents on fire. Crews controlled the fire at approximately 9:40 p.m. and fully extinguished the blaze.
After firefighters extinguished the fire, KFD Fire Prevention investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 11:25 p.m.
Damages to structure and contents are estimated at $350,000.
