LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i Housing Agency this week notified the recipients of its Residential Cesspool Conversion Grant Program. All recipients have been emailed directly and must acknowledge and confirm their interest by November 4, 2024, to receive the grant.
The top 100 recipients of the grant were notified by email that their property is eligible to receive the $20,000 grant reimbursement. A grant agreement must be signed to finalize the award. Please note that the Housing Agency will not ask for personal or financial information via phone or email. If you are unsure of the validity of a notice you may have received, please contact the Housing Agency directly at 808-241-4444.
Additionally, Housing Agency officials emailed all applicants who did not receive the award and were placed on the program’s waitlist. Being placed on the waitlist indicates that the applicant will remain under consideration for potential funding if any of the initial 100 awardees do not accept the available funding.
There were approximately 375 applications submitted for the Residential Cesspool Conversion Grant Program which began accepting applications in late August and closed on Sept. 27. The grant program provides up to $20,000 reimbursement to upgrade existing cesspools to individual wastewater systems approved by the Hawai‘i State Department of Health-Wastewater Branch.
Funding for this program is provided by the Hawai‘i State – DOH Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund (WPCRF).
