Housing Agency invites public to National Hunger and Homelessness Week
Published on November 04, 2025
LĪHU‘E – The Housing Agency invites the public to attend a ceremony on Monday, November 10, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Līhu‘e Civic Center Mo‘ikeha Rotunda to proclaim November 16 to 22, as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
The observance aims to educate the public, raise awareness about poverty, and recognize the many volunteers and service providers working to support those in need across our community.
“Homelessness on Kaua‘i continues to be a complex challenge that requires the entire community’s support to address,” said Farah Aquino, the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency’s Homeless Coordinator. “Food insecurity and hunger also affect many of our working-class families. We are deeply grateful for our partners—the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank, Family Life Center, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Hale ‘Ōpio, Pa‘a Lima, Project Vision Hawai‘i, and the many other nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly every day to help those in need. We could not do this work without them.”
As part of the week’s activities, Project Housing Connect, an annual outreach and awareness initiative, will host three community events this year:
- November 18 at the Līhu‘e Salvation Army
- November 19 at the Hanapēpē Salvation Army
- November 20 at All Saints Church in Kapa‘a
Each event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
