Housing Agency to open Section 8 voucher waiting list Sept. 1

LĪHUʻE – The County of Kauaʻi Housing Agency announces it will accept online applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waiting list beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at midnight (HST). The waiting list will remain open until further notice.

Applications will be accepted online at www.waitlistcheck.com/application/form.php?ID=795-HI005.

For members of the public who need computer and online access, applications may be completed using the Section 8 HCV kiosk in the lobby of the Housing Agency at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, 4444 Rice Street, in the Pi‘ikoi Building.

For assistance applying to the waiting list, please call the Section 8 HCV office at 808-241-4440 or email jtoguchi@kauai.gov to schedule an appointment at least two days before your anticipated kiosk visit.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance to very low-income families. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Section 8 HCV Program, and eligible applicants will be selected from the waiting list based on preference ranking.

Applying for the waiting list is at no cost. The Housing Agency cautions applicants against individuals or companies offering application assistance for a fee. These individuals or companies are not affiliated with the Housing Agency and should be considered fraudulent.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service, other accommodation due to a disability, or an interpreter for non-English-speaking persons, please contact the Housing Agency at 808-241-4440 or jtoguchi@kauai.gov as soon as possible. Requests made as early as possible will allow adequate time to fulfill your request. Upon request, this notice is available in alternate formats such as large print, Braille, or electronic copy.
