WAILUA — Personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department rescued an injured 74-year-old visitor from Uluwehi Falls, also known as Secret Falls, in Wailua on Tuesday, April 1.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, personnel with the Kapa‘a and Kaiākea fire stations, and American Medical Response responded to the incident.
First responders received a report of a distressed hiker shortly after 4:15 p.m.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 arrived on the scene and discovered a hiker with an apparent injury near Uluwehi Falls. Air 1 short-hauled the hiker and dropped him near the ‘Ōpaeka‘a Falls Lookout. Upon landing, the hiker was transferred to awaiting firefighters and medics. AMR personnel took over the medical care of the hiker and transported him to Wilcox Medical Center.
The scene was cleared shortly after 5:35 p.m.
