HĀ‘ENA — First responders rescued a 34-year-old Michigan woman near the Hanakāpī‘ai Trail in Hā‘ena on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a 34-year-old female who sustained injuries from a fall on the Hanakāpī‘ai Trail at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and American Medical Response responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, first responders located the hiker walking to the Hanakāpī‘ai Beach landing zone at approximately 1:45 p.m. The hiker fell about 20 to 30 feet on the trail and sustained injuries to her head and other parts of her body. Upon arrival, first responders loaded the hiker onto Air 1 and transported her to the Princeville Airport to awaiting AMR and KFD personnel.
AMR personnel continued treatment of the hiker before transporting her to Wilcox Medical Center.
The scene was cleared shortly before 4:25 p.m.
