LĪHU‘E — Personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department rescued a 63-year-old female New York visitor from Kalalau Trail on Friday, April 3, with apparent wrist injury.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 responded to the incident shortly after 3:40 p.m. on Friday.
First responders arrived on scene at the Hanakāpī‘ai Beach landing zone and discovered the hiker. Rescuers medically assessed the hiker at the scene and loaded her into the helicopter, where she was taken to Princeville Airport. Upon landing at the Princeville Airport, the hiker was transferred to American Medical Response for assessment. American Medical Response personnel then transferred the hiker to a local hospital.
The scene was cleared shortly before 5:20 p.m.
