July 10 UPDATE: Shark warning signs removed Wednesday morning

Ocean Safety Bureau officials have removed warning signs Wednesday morning after monitoring Hanalei Bay. No sharks were sighted. Mahalo to beachgoers for their cooperation and patience.

HANALEI – Ocean Safety Bureau officials advise no swimming at Hanalei Bay until further notice due to a shark sighting.

OSB officials received a report of a possible 10-foot tiger shark sighted about 250 feet west of the Pavilion Lifeguard Tower on Tuesday morning.

As a safety precaution, OSB officials have posted warning signs and are monitoring the area.

Lifeguards will reassess the area tomorrow, July 10.

Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
