The Kaua‘i Fire Department responded to brush fire in Kekaha near the bottom of Kokee Road on Thursday, June 12. 

State officials remain on scene to monitor hot spots.

According to a preliminary report, the fire was reported shortly after 7:45 a.m. Fire officials report that the 2-acre brush fire has been extinguished. 

There were no reports of threats to nearby structures and no reports of injuries. 

Assets

Crews with the Waimea and Hanapepe fire stations, Rescue 3, tanker 1, the on-duty Battalion Chief, private landowners, and the Kaua‘i Police Department responded.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency and the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative are also monitored the incident.

Road closures

Kokee Road is now open from Kekaha Road to the Waimea Canyon drive junction.
