The Kaua‘i Fire Department is responding to a brush fire in Kekaha near the bottom of Kokee Road.
According to a preliminary report, the fire was reported shortly after 7:45 a.m. Fire officials report that the fire is under control. The size of the fire is not known at this time.
There are no threats to nearby structures and no reports of injuries.
Assets
Crews with the Waimea and Hanapepe fire stations, Rescue 3, tanker 1, the on-duty Battalion Chief, and the Kaua‘i Police Department are responding.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency and the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative are also monitoring the incident.
Road closures
Kokee Road is closed from Kekaha Road to the Waimea Canyon drive junction.
