KPD Seeks Public’s Assistance Locating Wanted Hanapēpē Man

June 6 UPDATE: Jason Bagain was apprehended the evening of June 5, 2026, without incident. The Kaua‘i Police Department thanks the public for their assistance and cooperation throughout the investigation.

LĪHU‘E – The Kaua’i Police Department (KPD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Hanapēpē man who is wanted as a person of interest in a criminal investigation, after receiving a report from Kauaʻi Veterans Memorial Hospital that a patient had been treated for a gunshot wound on June 4, 2026.

Jason Bagain, 45, is 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 145 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He is known to frequent the areas of Waimea and Hanapēpē.

KPD believes that this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger. However, members of the public are advised not to approach Bagain if seen, and to contact law enforcement immediately.
