KPD seeks public’s help identifying body found at Kalihiwai Beach

Jan. 19, 2025 Update: The decedent has been identified as Nickolas Balsimo, a 31-year-old resident of Kaua‘i. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected at this time.

KĪLAUEA – The Kauaʻi Police Department (KPD) is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a body that was found Friday morning at Kalihiwai Beach.
On Friday, Jan. 17, at approximately 8:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a deceased man discovered on the shoreline of Kalihiwai Beach. The decedent, whose identity is currently unknown, is believed to be of Caucasian descent, approximately in his late 30s to early 40s. He is estimated to be around 5-feet-3-inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds, with brown eyes, brown shoulder-length hair, and distinctive tattoos.
At this time, foul play is not suspected.
The decedent was transported to the Wilcox Medical Center, where an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
