KAPA‘A – The public is reminded that the Kapa‘a Refuse Transfer Station (RTS) will be closed for renovations starting on Saturday, Nov. 2, through July of 2025. However, green waste collection in Kapa‘a will remain open.
During the Kapa‘a RTS closure, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The public is advised that only bagged trash from residents will be accepted on those days.
Trash, tires, motor oil, and propane tanks can be taken to the Līhu‘e RTS at 3450 Ahukini Road, in Līhu‘e, or the Hanalei RTS at 5-3751 Kūhiō Highway, in Princeville. Scrap metal and appliances can be taken to Hanalei RTS or Puhi Metals Recycling Center on Puhi Road. As a reminder, materials accepted at the Līhu‘e RTS have been temporarily modified. Līhu‘e will not be accepting construction and demolition debris or trailers containing trash. Pallets must be cut into quarters.
