LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i County Housing Agency Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program announced that it will close its online Waiting List on Nov. 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (HST) until further notice.
Although new applications will no longer be accepted after this date, the closure does not affect those currently active on the waitlist or those who submit applications prior to the closing deadline. Applications received before the closure will continue to be processed according to the Housing Agency’s approved policies and procedures regarding waitlist pulls.
All applicants currently on the waitlist, as well as those who are accepted prior to the closing date, must maintain valid contact information in their WaitlistCheck.com account to ensure that they receive time-sensitive communications when their names are selected.
At this time, the Housing Agency will continue to evaluate federal funding levels and program needs and will provide public notice once the Waiting List is ready to reopen. The temporary closure reflects the program’s current capacity and the availability of federal resources that support local housing assistance. The Agency remains committed to assisting eligible families and ensuring that limited program resources are used effectively to support existing participants.
The Kaua‘i County Housing Agency serves as the County’s Public Housing Authority (PHA), administering the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s federally funded Section 8 HCV Program locally. This program assists low-income families, people with disabilities, and the elderly to afford housing in the private market through rental subsidies paid directly to participating landlords.
