Kauaʻi Police Department searches for suspect in an assault case

KŌLOA – The Kauaʻi Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with an assault that occurred today, Jan. 11, in Kōloa.

Travis Bonachita, 24, of Kōloa, is wanted in an assault involving a law enforcement officer incident that occurred early Thursday morning on Wailaau Rd. & Ala Kinoiki Rd. in Kōloa.

Officers were attempting to arrest Bonachita when he assaulted an officer and fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found unattended. The officer was treated and released for minor injuries.

Bonachita is sought in connection with an Assault in the First Degree investigation for his assault on a KPD officer.

Bonachita is considered dangerous, and the public is advised to use caution and not approach this individual. Bonachita is 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds.

KPD would like to remind the public that any person who renders assistance to Bonachita is subject to prosecution for Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree, an offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Rendering assistance includes providing money, transportation, weapons, disguise, or other means of avoiding discovery, apprehension, prosecution, or conviction.
