Kaua‘i Police Department arrests robbery suspect Thursday

LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred in Līhu‘e Thursday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Police have identified the suspect as 37-year-old Robert I. Monroy of Hanalei.

According to a preliminary report, Kaua‘i Police responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of Hawai‘i, Līhu‘e Branch, at 10 a.m. During their response, Kaua‘i Police located the suspect on Rice Street at approximately 10:05 a.m.

Mr. Monroy is currently being held at the KPD Cell Block on $20,000 bail.

“The swift response by our patrol officers and detectives was key in successfully locating and arresting Mr. Monroy quickly,” said Acting Capt. Kennison Nagahisa with the Investigative Services Bureau. “The investigation is ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information to contact us.”
