Kaua‘i Police Department urges community to be vigilant

The Kaua‘i Police Department urges the community to stay alert and take necessary precautions during the holiday season, as crimes of robbery and theft are prevalent.

“The Kaua‘i Police Department would like to remind businesses and residents to be on high alert this holiday season and ensure all doors and windows are secured,” said Acting Capt. Kennison Nagahisa with the Investigative Services Bureau. “If available, all surveillance cameras and alarm systems should be up and operating properly to protect your home, business, and property.”

A recent incident occurred on Nov. 13 in the Līhu‘e Industrial Park. According to a preliminary report, Toolmaster Hawai‘i in Līhu‘e was burglarized in the early morning hours. Police later arrested 52-year-old Lincoln Kaehu of Puhi on Nov. 25 in the Ahukini area on warrants connected with the incident.

Mr. Kaehu has been charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, Unauthorized Entry Into Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, Habitual Property Crime and Theft in the Second Degree, and is currently being held on $150,000 bail.
