Man killed in motorcycle crash in Līhu‘e

LĪHU‘E – A 23-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a single-motorcycle traffic incident Sunday night.

On Jan. 26, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., a 2008 Honda motorcycle with a solo rider was traveling eastbound on Kaumuali‘i Highway near Ho‘omana Road in Līhu‘e, when the rider lost control and crashed.

First responders arrived to find good Samaritans administering CPR to the rider. The rider, a 23-year-old male with no permanent address, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was transported to the Wilcox Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Kaumuali‘i Highway was closed in both directions for approximately 2 hours while the Kauaʽi Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation. Speed and weather conditions appear to be suspected factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

This is Kaua‘i’s first traffic fatality of 2025.
