Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters are responding to a brush fire in Kōke‘e near the junction of Kōke‘e Road and Waimea Canyon Drive.
There are no threats to structures nor any injuries have been reported.
According to a preliminary report, the fire was reported shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday. As of 7 a.m., the estimated size of the fire was 2 acres. However, according to fire personnel, the blaze was growing.
Assets
Crews with the Hanapepe and Waimea fire stations, Tender 1, the Kaua‘i Police Department, and the on-duty Battalion Chief are responding to the incident.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency are also monitoring the incident.
Road closures
At this time, Waimea Canyon Drive, from Panini Place to Kōke‘e Road, is closed. The public is strongly advised to avoid the area as crews remain on scene.
