LĪHU‘E – The in-person State of the County Address scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Mo‘ikeha Courtyard has been canceled due to the potential for severe weather.
Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami’s 2026 State of the County Address will instead be recorded and released online via video on Wednesday afternoon.
“I was really looking forward to delivering my eighth and final State of the County Address in person,” said Mayor Kawakami. “But with the potential for severe weather beginning Tuesday and into the week, the safety of our residents, visitors, and county employees has to come first. One thing we’ve learned over the years is how to turn lemons into lemonade, so we look forward to sharing the message with our community online.”
The address will be available at www.facebook.com/CountyofKauai and on the County of Kaua‘i website at www.kauai.gov.
